As far as I remember, Double Good Restaurant at Jalan Tun Awang Bukit Jambul has been serving good food for many years. Their lunch sets are quite attractively packaged. We took Set C with 5 dishes and complimentary drinks. Reasonably priced at RM188 for 4-6 pax and RM238 for 8-10 pax.
The Indonesian Prawns in Claypot is apparently their signature dish. And it did not disappoint. Fresh prawns cooked in a thick and rich curry sauce can’t go wrong! The sauce was wiped clean. Double good!
Next came the Steamed Fish in Teochew Style. The red snapper (angsai) was steamed with a generous “concoction of toppings and garnish” that include slices of salted plums, tomatoes, tofu, ginger, salted vegetables (kiam chye), parsley leaves and others. Such a rich combination gives the dish its sour and spicy flavours.
The Special Beancurd with Dried Shrimp, Braised Pork Trotter (very tender) and Fried Vegetable with Seafood were all flavourful.
If you are heading to Double Good, make sure you call up (60 4-643 4188) to reserve your table. The restaurant has limited tables.
